Part 1 of some Historic Radio as Ian Mac Rae 2SM Sydneys breakfast host presents another brilliant program before he finishes an amazing 13 year run on 2SM Breakfast
From High School days 1982 Killara High, the 8.05am Chalmers Coach on the corner and Macca and The Hon. Nick Jones giving us kiddies all the info we need even for the beachbums with Shane Steadmans surf, also featured on here Frank Fursey 1:32 and David “The Mighty “Whitey 6:08
Much thanks to Macca himself for kindly emailing me the intro here. Heavy 6:49
Not sure who the big ballsy read is from here, after hearing Scott McBain from Adelaide, somehow I doubt it would be him as the station back in 1995 used local voices apart from Steve Britten.
Recently the original FM 104 Lunchbox was re-introduced to the present day station, Triple M 104.5, and the PD even contacted Billy Healy who was in fact both the Music Director and the 2nd original breakfast announcer at 4MMM after it became FM 104 Rock in Stereo, Rod “Mr T” Tiley (News Director) was also paired with Bill and they became constant ratings winners.
Just managed to scope this one from a TDK cassette and thanks to a handy tip from Ewan J. whittled down the songs a little more, the thing i love most about these is recalling all the great tracks we played, and a superb conversation was had when the original GM phoned the other day to remind me of the yellow cards El supremo PD Bill Riner had devised for album cuts, such as Peter Frampton Lying and Steely Dan Deacon Blues, being a full classic rock radio station we also covered soft rock such as Christopher Cross sailing and George Benson Give me the night while at the same time breaking new artists on Australian radio such as Oingo Boingo Stay and Kids in the Kitchen Current stand
This aircheck from Marc Mc Creadie must have been recorded after the Rod Muir addition which not long after had EON change to the Triple M branding, note the new “Triple Your Music” imaging, and the Frequency in the ID dropped to just EON FM, Steve Chandler, sounds like David White, compliment I would think as he was another top jock and News professional from the original House of M’s era
Love this scoped 46 minutes of the new 1047 Classic Triple M Adelaide, Laidley Poulton, be warned this experience is “CLASSIC” 1980’s style complete with original imaging and God Bless Bernard “Doc” Neeson
