Not sure who the big ballsy read is from here, after hearing Scott McBain from Adelaide, somehow I doubt it would be him as the station back in 1995 used local voices apart from Steve Britten.
Recently the original FM 104 Lunchbox was re-introduced to the present day station, Triple M 104.5, and the PD even contacted Billy Healy who was in fact both the Music Director and the 2nd original breakfast announcer at 4MMM after it became FM 104 Rock in Stereo, Rod “Mr T” Tiley (News Director) was also paired with Bill and they became constant ratings winners.

Pretty sure that’s Jim Pilgrim who did this VO.
Shaun, thanks for stopping by, the late Jim Pilgrim had the big voice but it’s not him.
Keep enjoying the radio antenna.
Cheers Andrew
I’ve had another to listen to this and to me the VO has a “very similar” vocal tone to Jim Pilgrim. You say “it’s not him” it seems that’s your opinion when to me my opinion is it’s Jim Pilgrim so i’d say that’s who you are hearing here.
Can assure you Shaun as one of the longest serving Jocks on FM104, this is not the late great Jim Pilgrim.
Hi Jeff, fair enough but even his son Shane in the comment below from 2023 has confirmed it’s Jim.
So i think we can all put this one to rest, it’s the late great Jim Pilgrim doing the VO here in this recording. Cheers. Shaun
@Jeff Truscott, you wouldn’t happen to know the artist/song title of the short clip in this VO where the lyrics are something like “Where’s my change, my fame” or something along those lines? It’s played after Silverchairs Anthem for the Year 2000 track in the background. I haven’t had much luck trying to track it down online so is probably a obscure release from say 1999 when I assume this promo was on the airwaves.
The MMM at the end in particular is the giveaway for me that it’s Jim Pilgrim.
Hi, Jim is my dad. He passed in 2015. I can confirm this voiceover is my dad Jim Pilgrim. Cheers
That is definitely not Jim Pilgrim. I am quite sure it is the late John (Jaan) Torv.
Have a listen to his Rocktober voice-overs. You can hear that it is the late, great John Torv. He was my boss at 4IP in 1978.
Thanks Phil,
Thanks for responding yes John Torv did have a big voice.
Happy to be proven wrong but you would think his own son would know his late father’s voice alot better then anyone else and he has mentioned it is Jim’s voice. Anyways who knows.
