IAN WRIGHT – East Coast Radio 2EC Bega-Batemans Bay, NSW – ‘Sunday Gold’ Show 1 – 6/12/92 – Duration 4’45”

“A first and a last as it turned out for me ! We had just converted to FM in the Batemans Bay northern sector of our service area. ‘Sunday Gold’ had moved from Sunday night to the new morning platform and this was the first morning airing on both AM & FM. We were in the middle of major floods up and down the coast and this morning at the station was extremely chaotic, with nonstop ‘phone calls in , a busy log and people at the back door on the intercom requiring our help. Fair to say I was working like a madman to keep it all together on-air, utilising equipment including turntables, 2 domestic CD players, reel to reel recorders and 4 cart machines. As it turned out this was to be my last shift with 2EC after nearly 12 years with the station, the last 11 as Manager/Programme Director. My time spent with East Coast Radio 2EC Bega-Batemans Bay (formerly known as 2BE) was a blast and the fond memories of the people and our achievements remain strong & clear to this day.”

  1. Hi Ian I must have missed something how come this was your last shift when you had done such a great job with all that mayhem going on around you?

    1. David, sorry i don’t have Ian’s email best send him your comment if i find it I will pass it on thanks for checking out the site hope you’ll keep an eye out and you have any contributions all are welcome
      Cheers Andrew

      1. David, sorry for the delay in replying, as I only just stumbled across your post. As often happens in business the new owners decided on a re-structure and I was out about a week after this shift. Had a great 12 year run with 2BE/2EC and apart from getting the DCM, enjoyed every minute. Thanks for asking. IAN
