RA Aircheck – Tony Hartney and Bob Hughes 2Day FM 1981
The dulcet tones, great memories of another great Australian radio station
At 2DAY Bob was probably the best smoothest announcer ever on australian radio.
Tragic when news gets delayed owing to the pandemic, thanks to radio info for this link earlier this year
RIP Bob Hughes, his distinct tones will be missed
Cheers Andrew

As a teenager in the 1980s, I grew up listening to Bob Hughes on 2Day when he worked the 4:00 to 8:00 shift in the evening, sandwiched between Tim Webster / Dave Norman in the afternoon, and John Carroll / Mike Carroll in the evenings. I remember the newsreaders as well, Frank Avis and Lee Wallis, and yeah, George Benson’s “Breezin”, and ARS’s “So into you” getting quite a few spins. These were the golden days of 2Day FM before Austereo put the wrecking ball through in 1989. This world is empty without the voice of BH, He’ll be missed greatly.
