Effective use of the Triple Your Music segue is evident in this snapshot from Mr Crumbly
This aircheck from Marc Mc Creadie must have been recorded after the Rod Muir addition which not long after had EON change to the Triple M branding, note the new “Triple Your Music” imaging, and the Frequency in the ID dropped to just EON FM, Steve Chandler, sounds like David White, compliment I would think as he was another top jock and News professional from the original House of M’s era
Placebo had what, pfft, sorry uncheck off the playlist thanks, oh yeah by the way Ewan, “the New Sound” what’s the old sound then, haha
Okay here we go with part one of the full scope
Ewan J. Dixon voices the rock patrol promo, and then part the aircheck he sent
and you timed up to Stones well there Ewan
cheers folks till the next installment and btw before I started theradioantenna, Ewan and I’m sure there are many other jocks/announcers, who would not otherwise have been uncovered for their unique communication talents and versatility, Mark Carter, Phil Huzzard and Bill Ali would be 3 that may be located one day
Big thanks to Jason Nightingale from EON FM for sharing this classic aircheck featuring The D GEN and Jonathan Coleman (Jono) and Ian Rogerson (Dano) with the keys to the LIBEON , hehe
here they are with Aussie Rocker Iva Davies from Icehouse
Here’s an excerpt from the History Channel Documentary “Thanks for Listening” The history of Australian Radio by Graham McNiece Productions, Tim is talking about an experience on the hotline with the then PD Rod Muir and gaps on-air, hilarious as every jock can relate to this scenario, being “chewed out ” as some radio peeps would often put it, and usually because the boss was in a bad mood no doubt he’d just had the same from his boss, also includes a quick check from 1420 3XY jock Lee Simon, very young as the photo shows
Some background from a former Production guru, I thought the voice here was Gary Roberts,
The time period (1981) is right for Gary still pulling air shifts (10am – 2pm) while being Program Director but it is Mr. Smooth John Hood on the audio.
The music and time call is a night time shift which Gary would not have done. Hoodie did the 6pm – 10pm shift. He never did many commercial production voices so I don’t have a strong memory of his actual voice. But the slow laconic style and language fits John Hood as I remember him.
